Alden Richards, half of the phenomenal AlDub love team, will star in a new primetime teleserye on GMA-7, but will his perennial onscreen partner Maine Mendoza on the TV show as well?
According to GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth G. Rasonable, the answer is quite vague.
Speaking to showbiz PEP on the sidelines of a press party, the Kapuso exec said, “Alden will be back on prime-time, I think na-announce na yun. Pinaghahandaan na yun.”
When asked if Maine will headline it as well, she explained: “Actually, we’re just doing the concept pa, so hindi ko masabi kung anong klase siya, kung meron ba siyang partner dun, may love interest ba siya dun, hindi ko talaga masabi.”
“Talagang binubuo pa lang, and we’re brainstorming. We want to brainstorm with him,” she clarified.
The top management already had a meeting with the Kapuso star to hash out some of their ideas.
“We’ve met him already and presented what we wanted for him and he really liked it and he appreciated the fact that we wanted to also get his ideas,” Lilybeth said.
“Kasi siyempre, pagbabalik niya ito sa primetime after Destined [To Be Yours] so we want him to be involved in it,” she added.
Notwithstanding rumors that Alden and Maine already parted ways as a love team, following the latter’s open letter to fans, the GMA boss denied such speculations. In the controversial post, the young actress emphasized that she and Alden are ‘just friends’, quashing talks of possible romance between the two.
“They’re still good. Alden still has shown his support of Maine and Maine din,” she said. “They are good friends, they are a love team and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
According to the PEP report, Alden’s return to primetime slot was announced in new shows of the network for 2018. However, there was no mention of other co-stars who will appear on said upcoming project.
