He was seated at the corner reserved for pregnant, elderly and disabled people when the 70-year-old man lost his life to heart failure. His head was found slumped over the train’s handrails.
Metro staff were alerted too late when they found his lifeless body following an inspection at the end of the trip at 11:45 PM. Paramedics immediately attended to him but to no avail, for the man had been gone for several hours.
It was later reported that the death was caused by fulminant myocarditis, a cardiovascular complication wherein muscles in the heart get inflamed.
His family requested to remain anonymous upon claiming of the unidentified man’s body.

According to a study by the Department of Health back in 2009, 170,000 Filipinos were recorded to have died from CVDs, with 19 Filipinos dying from the said disease each hour. It is known to have taken more lives than the strongest typhoons which hit the country.
