Tricycles are among the most convenient and affordable means of transportation in the Philippines. These little motorbikes with the makeshift sidecar offer a fast and cheap method of arriving at your destination. That being said, many regular people rely on tricycles every day. However, the rising necessity tricycles has increased the numbers of picky tricycle drivers.
Have you ever encountered picky tricycle drivers who refused to offer service? Besides being a nuance to commuters, these drivers are also a serious inconvenience for those who depend on the tricycle. This is what happened to this senior citizen who was repeatedly ignored by tricycle drivers on the street. In Dumaguete City, an elderly lady was spotted being snubbed by tricycle drivers.
On Facebook, a concerned citizen named Anthony Enriquez shared the declining system of tricycles in their area. Based on what we’ve gathered from his post, an elderly woman (whose age is estimated to be around 70-80 years old), can be seen hailing a tricycle at the side of a bustling road.

After minutes of patiently waiting, every tricycle driver she meets snubbed her. An excerpt from Enriquez’ post reads:
“Isang Senior Citizens [sic] sa Dumaguete City maraming beses na esnab ng mga tricycle driver . Walang mag pasakay sa matanda hanggang ang nag video nito ang tumulong na sa pag para ng masasakyan ni lola.”
In a short video which irked plenty of netizens, the senior citizen can be seen repeatedly going back and forth to catch up with several picky tricycle drivers, all of whom denied her service. There were times when a tricycle will slow down, but then after talking briefly with the old woman, they will scuttle away.

After a long time of observing the elderly woman get snubbed by the picky tricycle drivers, the man behind the video could not stomach the scene anymore. Eventually, a tricycle driver stopped but even then, he asked for a larger fare than the minimum. The tired old woman had no other choice but oblige.
“Humingi pa ang driver ng subra sa minimum na pamasahi .Walang nagawa ang matanda kundi magbayad na lng . Ganito na raw ang Dumagute ngayon , namimili ng pasahero ang mga tricycle.”
