Cases of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) being subjected to abuse are common, especially in Middle Eastern countries. Just recently, a group of overseas Filipina workers appeared in a video to air out their grievances and appeal for help after being alleged subjected to abuse by their agency.
The video was posted on the Facebook group “OFW ASSISTANCE GROUP HELPING AND ACTION CENTER,” where it has reached around 15,000 likes and reactions, 92,177 shares, and 453 comments from the online community as of this writing. According to the caption of the post, all of their mobile phones have been confiscated by the agency.
The camera panned to show another OFW who also lamented, “Maawa na po kayo… tulungan niyo po kami dito, parang-awa niyo na. ‘Di na po namin kaya dito!”
It appeared as if the video was taken in a room full of overseas Filipina workers. Most of them cried and wailed in despair as the camera panned throughout the room.
Then one OFW sat down and gave a warning to the viewers.
In the post’s comments section, a netizen shared a picture of the agency the OFW was referring to. It was the Emirates Sun Services Est., which describes themselves as a manpower recruitment agency. According to the netizen, they are located in Abu Dhabi.
However, there are further information on the case. There is also no verification whether the agency did abuse the overseas Filipina workers in the video. Watch below:
