According to ABS-CBN News, Pua will represent the country of Belgium in the international pageant scene this 2018. The beauty queen has won the Miss Filipina Europe title in 2016. She is also a student airline pilot.
Due to her victory, she is expected to join the Miss Universe 2018 and Miss World 2018 pageants as a Belgium representative. In an additional report from Rappler, it was cited that the Miss Belgium Organization officially announced her victory through their official Instagram account which has the handle of missbelgium_official.
Pua is a 22-year-old from Antwerp, Belgium. Her personal Instagram account – where she has the handle of missflyingangel – cites that she also won the titles of Miss Antwerpen & Miss Publieksprijs 2018. Her profile also has the hashtag of #FlyingAngel
An excerpt of a status from the official Facebook page of Missosology reads:
“Angel is pure Filipina was crowned as the winner in the 50th edition of Miss Belgium held last night January 13, 2018 at the Plopsaland Theater in De Panne, Belgium. In 2016, she was crowned Miss Filipina Europe in Vienna Austria. In 2017, she bagged the title of Miss Antwerp.”
Based on Philippine Daily Inquirer’s report, the young woman is fluent in Dutch. She also owns a pet dog named Bobby and has a younger brother.
Pua was born in Antwerp, Belgium on April 17, 1995. Her father is a Belgian sailor while her mother is a Filipina who works in an ironing shop.
It was reported that Pua is not the only Filipina who have represented other countries in beauty pageants. Previously, Cloie Syquia Skarne – who is the daughter of Gabby Concepcion and Jenny Syquia – has represented Sweden in the Miss Earth 2016.
